B2 Vocabulary Describing a room

For this week we’ll be describing parts of the house. The aim is to get into the habit of using a wider range of terms rather than the typical “nice, big, pretty, etc”. Here’s a wordcloud and a flipping card quiz as a starter.

The opposite of huge.

tiny

Meaning that there is not enough room for people to move about.

cramped

Extremely dirty.

filthy

Another word for tidy.

neat

Warm, comfortable and making you feel at home.

cosy

Not enough light.

dim

Sort of expensive.

luxurious

Another word for untidy. Clue starts with the letter "m"

messy

In poor condition because it has been used a lot.

shabby

Fashionable, elegant and smart.

stylish

Measuring a short distance in relation from one side to the other.

narrow

Fashionable and elegant. Clue: the first letter is "c".

chic
