A2 Too much, too many & not enough

For this lesson on healthy lifestyles, I will start by introducing the expressions ‘too much, too many and not enough’.

For this purpose I have created a video where different people interact using these expressions.

But maybe it would not be a bad idea to remember what countable and uncountable nouns mean before we dive into this new item.

Countable nouns are all the words that can be used in the plural like: potatoes, bottles, cans and so on.

Uncountable nouns are words that are not usually used in the plural form. Here is a short list of these types of words. It’s not an extensive list, as there are many other words that can be uncountable, but this list is enough for now.

  • materials like: cement, sand…
  • liquids like: water, coffee, wine, milk…
  • products that we usually buy by the weight like: meat, cheese, butter, flour, sugar…
  • products that we usually buy buy the unit like, bread (a loaf of bread)

Here is a quick quiz to refresh memory.
