B1/B2 How to make guesses using modal verbs

Serena’s blog

This is a fun (real fun, promise!) grammar lesson about one of the uses of modal verbs. I know that students usually find modals boring, so this video is an activity that I thought up for my intermediate levels. We’ve done this one quite a few times, but with the exception that now I’ve turned it into a video (it used to be a powerpoint with a link to a video). I’m sure you’re going to find it a fun way to learn a little grammar.

Below you’ll find a link to a post that I put on the blog some time ago with a ‘longish summary’ on modals for possibility, probability and logical assumptions and a grammar activity.

PS I’ve uploaded the video again as the colours were really sh… and the example was not a very good one.

Here you will find some sentences to help you glue what you have just learnt
