This role-play background is about zoos and yes, it is suitable for all levels going from A1s to C2.

How to use

Give your students a prompt and ask them to write a short script. Then have them perform their role-play (or hold a debate) with their backs to the screen, facing their partner.

Here are just a few prompts:

A1 Do you like animals?

A1 Do you visit zoos? Do you like them?

A2 When was the last time you visited a zoo?

A2 Did you like zoos when you were a child?

B1 Is there an animal you are scared of? Which one?

B1 Which is your favourite animal? Where does it live?

B2 Are zoos a good way to protect wildlife and endangered species?

B2 Do you think it is cruel to keep animals in captivity?

C1/C2 Can animals born in captivity ever be successfully released into the wild?

C1/C2 Are breeding programmes genuinely beneficial, or do they simply produce more animals for captivity?
